Hairline advancement is a procedure that is used to lower the hairline along the forehead. This is generally done to reduce a high forehead and provide balance to the overall shape of the face. For a hairline advancement procedure, the incision will be made along the edge of the hairline so that any resultant scar will be well camouflaged by the hair. Through this incision, the forehead can be made shorter and the hairline will be repositioned further forward. The surgery lasts for approximately two to three hours.
The recovery from a hairline advancement procedure typically takes one week, and the sutures will be removed at this time. The results are often immediately visible and are long lasting. Some patients choose to add a browlift while they will be undergoing a hairline advancement in order to revitalize sagging brows and maximize the effect on the upper portion of the face.
